Testimonials

Here are a few testimonials from happy Peak Fitness members:

Bootcamp has been fantastic for me, it got me off the couch, and now I feel a lot better about myself. For years I have been saying when I get around to it. At times I still have to drag myself to the sessions, but afterwards are extremely glad I went. Thanks to the crew at Peak Fitness, we even have heaps of fun.

I have always been active – having progressed through the rugby/cricket/beer drinking stage to now being a 40 year old ‘weekend warrior’. I had considered myself to be a reluctant gym attendee as my previous experiences with gyms had been less than enjoyable – they were pretentious; unfriendly & overcrowded with lycra. Peak Fitness has completely changed these views. Andy & his team go out of their way to make me feel welcome & to understand my expectations/needs/goals. I have a dodgy back but over the past two years they have put together an informal programme to get me through numerous events such as the Motu Challenge; Triple Peaks; Karapoti; Lake Taupo (thanks Lika & the RPM classes)… Lake Taupo finally did my back in last year & after seeing other specialists (with little improvement) Andy suggested I visit Ben Warren (’Pure Health & Fitness’ who is based at the gym). I should have gone sooner – Ben immediately sussed out my problems & put me on a strengthening/stretching (& even nutrition) programme that had immediate effect & I am confident he will have me better than ever in no time at all. I have recommended Peak Fitness (including the RPM classes & Ben Warren) to anyone who will listen & fully expect to be a (not so reluctant) member for many years to come.

Confidence and motivation. These are the 2 things I learnt from Bootcamp Sep-Nov 2006. Confidence in myself from knowing I can lose weight, I can get toned and I can get fit. It was hard work but at the end of each session I always felt good about myself. Motivation – I used to find it difficult to get motivated – sure I would go to the gym but never really push myself! Bootcamp helps to get me moving to the point that event at the end of the hard workout many of us would be organizing what triathlon we could enter in a few weeks (none of us had ever done one before). I lost weight, have toned my muscles, have increased my fitness. I feel great and had heaps of fun doing it. Thanks Team!

I was a woman who weighed well over 100kgs and a smoker. When my son lost his father I realised I was his only parent and I wanted to be able to do all the physical things with my son that his Dad did with him. The weight had to go! First I gave up smoking and 3 weeks after that I had put on 3 kgs – the time had come, enough was enough. With support from my friends, family and Richard from Peak Fitness I joined the gym. Alongside this I changed my eating habits. I was extremely nervous going to the gym for the first time. I thought I’d be the fattest one there and everyone would look at me. I was so wrong! Peak Fitness make you feel so welcome and at east. They help to make you feel comfortable and increase the want to go. My life changed the moment I started at the gym going 3 times a week, had a plan and stuck at it. The kilo’s started coming off. With the continued support from the staff and Peak Fitness, friends and family I finally stuck to a weight loss plan. January 2008 – I reached my first goal of 20kg’s. This is when I hit my plateau. Weeks went by and my weight didn’t move. If it wasn’t for all the encouragement and support I was getting I would have stopped. I persevered and decided to make my meal portions smaller – this was the next change. I have now lost nearly 23 kg’s and am still going to the gym (4-5 times per week now). I keep up my healthy eating and am still aiming for my final goal. I am half way there. Thank you Peak Fitness! Not only am I going to the gym I also enter duathlons.
